Frances Sousa, a multidisciplinary self-taught artisan hailing from Toronto, has devoted nearly a decade to her creative endeavors. Specializing primarily in abstract painting, Frances channels her artistic energy into repurposing vintage and pre-owned fabrics, alongside other upcycled materials, to craft paintings, collages, and refurbished attire.
"I find that I am overwhelmed with creative projects that I would like to pursue and keep my many notes away for when I have time to put them to use. In general I work very intuitively. When I get a concept for a creative idea that I would like to translate into a painting, I create the painting and then further see how that design can also apply to collage, film, and fashion. I am fascinated by seeing how one idea can transform into many different forms."
